ARCHITECTURE

Our client had a very clear idea of exactly what he wanted and we quickly identified a suitable architect who would be best suited to realise his dreams.

After a number of meetings a final design was agreed and submitted to the local planning authority for approval. The resulting house was an elegantly restrained residence, essentially symmetrical in form, the white rendered elevations punctuated by well-proportioned sash windows in a simple elegant rhythm.

A slate hipped roof was set behind a stone dressed parapet with further stone detailing to the elevations providing further articulation. Single storey wings either side employ a slightly different parapet detail to reduce the apparent mass of these elements whilst emphasising the symmetry of this house.

LAYOUT

The plan of the house uses a top lit entrance hall as a fulcrum from which the internal layouts on all levels radiate. A formal drawing room and dining room are located at the rear of the house to take full advantage of the large garden, while family living spaces and leisure facilities including a pool, steam room and gym are contained within the single storey wings. The principal bedroom accommodation is at first floor level with guest suites on the 3rd floor all easily accessible via a six person lift.

INTERIOR DESIGN

The classic detailing of the exterior is replicated on the interior towering 3m high ceilings and walls dressed in fine plaster mouldings with deep skirting’s, architraves and pediments. Curved panelled doors an elegant curved regency style staircase climbs to the circular landing. Set against this backdrop is a beautiful contemporary interior a sleek high gloss kitchen minimalist contemporary bathrooms and spectacular indoor swimming pool complex all hewn from pure white limestone.
A superb fusion of the old and new provided the perfect stage to showcase our clients’ extensive collection contemporary furniture and allow him to fully express his passion for modern art. A state of the art home automation system was also specified and installed to provide complete control over all aspects of the home via
a simple user friendly iPad interface.
