Withington Hall Introduction

We were instructed by our client to locate and acquire a country estate in need of renovation in the North Cheshire / South Manchester area. Such properties are a very rare commodity indeed. After an intensive search the Withington Hall Estate was identified and following protracted negotiations it was eventually acquired off-market by our client.

The original Withington Hall, a substantial Georgian Country House, had been consumed by fire and had been replaced by a rather ordinary painted brick house in the early 1960’s. The estate comprised over a hundred acres including historic parkland, a five acre lake, a walled garden, extensive outbuildings, stables and listed dovecote. The estate had been neglected for many years and our client set us the task of restoring it to its former glory.

Our client’s initial preference was to remodel and extend the existing 1960’s property but it soon became apparent that this was not going to be possible utilising the existing structure. An early decision was therefore made to seek consent to demolish the existing building and replace it with a complete new build.
